Dig Different Spotlights RodRadar’s Live Dig Radar® Safety System

Dig Different’s Product Spotlight covers RodRadar’s Live Dig Radar® (LDR), highlighted for its new partnership with Xwatch Safety Solutions. Together the companies have created the industry’s first “Stop-Before-Strike” system designed to automatically prevent utility strikes before they happen. At its core is LDR Excavate, described as the first ground-penetrating radar embedded directly into an excavator’s digging bucket, scanning the earth in real time with every pass and detecting utilities 5 to 40 inches below the dig level. 

RodRadar supplies the detection while Xwatch’s safety-grade hydraulic control provides the response, linking the radar’s AI directly to the excavator’s hydraulics so a detection triggers an automatic, feather-touch bucket stop instead of just a cab alert. RodRadar’s VP of sales and marketing, Yuval Barnea, said contractors using the LDR system have cut utility strikes by more than 60%, with the hardware often paying for itself within two months.
